Anyways it's pretty hectic including the fact that I need to finish up all of Bastok Missions, The last few Zilart Missions including the archangel battle, and theirs quite a bit of NM equiptment I'm going to try and camp during the upcomming weeks.

I start college on Sep 28th. Afterwhich point will experience tramndous slow down in my progress but I think all I need to do is pick up the pace and I should be able to manage things just fine. Anyways I'm rushing August starting monday.

I really want to progress through CoP missions and hoping to do it with a few rl friends.

Lack of Posts

As you may have noticed I haven't had too many posts about what I've been up to latly. This is due to sevarel things in my life right now. I am picking back up with programming, the school year just around the corner and I need to be fluent with that I have no intention of forgeting about ffxi but want to transfer this blog onto my own site that I am in the process of designing. It will be sometime before it's finished and I'm anywhere close to being happy with it I will continue posting here just with a little less frequency. Revamping

First of all windower 3.2 came out, during the process we also got an update which crashed and kill ffxi for me, which the unstall of killed my laptop. Thus I had to reformat, and back up over 20gigs worth of information I hope to be back up and running shortly. Meanwhile this is my conversation with SE customer service.

BTW it is actually easy to do, all you do is copy over the ROM files, but anyways Aku was sleeping till 4 or 5pm again so he was useless than when I called him he wouldn't pick the phone cause he's still grumpy @ that time like it's fucking morning to him. Anyways, after uninstall I deleted the hal.dll file which than crashed windows and can't be booted without finding the Win XP Pro cd ... lets stop right there. I'm finally getting back up and with a clean slate ^^

Ok so I decided to rework this little blog somemore. If you'll notice to your right, theirs a sidebar which has a lot of links I stole from aku's website cause I think their useful ^^, as well as other stuff of my own. I'll figure out new ways to fuck around with this blog and make it the ultimate application ^^

Yea you guessed it, I'm searching for an HNMLS and I think I found one, thanks to sinspawn, I still have to learn more about it and they have to accept me. I need to finish sky which I'll do monday probably.

Our server is a fun one to be on. We have more hate from LinkShell to LinkShell than anyone could dream off. Personally I'm not part of a HNM LS yet, I've always had my sights set on being part of OS but theirs very slim chances I'll be able to join, so I'll be trying to make it on my own. MAAT Fight

My final results for maat were 1/2 and this is my ultimate guide to the fight. I said before and I'll say it again, RDM maat is only 10% luck and 90% skill, I don't care what others tell you and this very statement has caused a lot of hate towards me in my linkshell that I'm no longer part of. Think it cocky or me or not this is how the fight should go.

Gear:
Best you can get. I did maat @ 69 and you really don't need evasion or def gear it wont save you. I suggest having the most INT you can collect. Because INT in this fight will determine how well you sleep, and how hard you nuke. Remember you don't have to kill Maat just bring him down under 20%. I managed to win my fight with under 7 nukes of Aero III.

"Do I go for MP or INT rings and other gear?"
Basically Astrals or INT+3 rings?
The answer is clear cut INT. Why because ethers will give you all the MP you will need for this fight. Meaning this guide is even for galka if you can load up on enough INT gear it's duable.

Other gear to take notice of. Before the fight I managed to bring in a nice yield of earth ore from gardening and upgraded my self to a Auster's Staff (HQ Wind staff) which gives 15%+ to every nuke. Also with a moldevites my nukes were already 20% boost. Trust me it made the difference.

I had the regular rdm AF but in this fight you don't need the full set. Head and body piece are the only thing that will effect the fight.

If your really hardcore and galka I suggest Caprance Gear as a quick backup I'll explain why later tho.

Practice:
First every rdm needs to get his rdm testimony. Where? Go to [sky] it's the best drop rate there. But I wasn't so fortunate and I have to say if your terrified of the fight a better do it this way.

Ruby Quadav (quick strategy guide)
Ruby quadav is a rdm type NM that most non-rdm and non-blm fear because he's the one that kills 90% of the folks doing the 60cap. Do you remember where 60 cap was well their you'll find a zone. As you zone in their will be 2 rooms. First room will have 3 quadavs (ruby and 2 others) and the second room will have atleast 10 quadav and 2 NMs with true sight including a second ruby and an adaman. So I suggest sticking to the first room although it is possible to pull from the second room I've only done it twice with success.

Ruby in the first room is easy to pull. First put up blink and stoneskin. Now run up and wait till all 3 quadav are close together. Elemental Seal + Sleepaga. The ga spell will clear Blink off ruby if he had it, and the ES will garantee sleep on the DRK quadav who has high resistence. The sleep wont last long at all. So work quickly. First you need to silence ruby, and drop gravity. Now wake him (NO DOT spells). As he's running towards u (the others may wake, if they do start over) you need to cast Sleep II on him zone out and zone in. There it can be done that quickly and you've now cleared hate on the other 2 don't even worry about em. It is also possible to pull ruby by being patient if u don't have /blm sub but I garantee that the fight will become twice as difficult.

When fighting ruby you have to always keep silence on him, keep 2 buffs on urself Blink and Stoneskin, and u need refresh. Nothing else will make a difference. Oh well not true I also suggest Aquaveil in this fight that I don't suggest for Maat. Ruby does not hit fast so he can interupt you but this will almost make sure he wont. When fighting ruby u need macros. Running down your spell list is too slow even if the spells are next to each other. A spell macro should look like this:

03 /equip ring2 "Hermite's ring"
04 /equip neck "Elemental torque"
05 /recast "Aero III"
06 /ma "Aero III"

This type of setup will make it extremly fast for you when you nuke sleep ruby which is the only way for a rdm to take him down at this level. At 74+ you can melee him even taru especially /nin sub. For now I suggest sleep nuke and this will get you ready for Maat.

You should get familiar with the cast time for each spell, sleep 2 equiptment should be switched on while the hands of your charecter spread and the cast is finished, that way u just click enter and the moment one spell is over the bar for the second is going. THIS IS IMPORTANT. This speed will make you better than the other 1,000 that preceeded you and lost due to something going wrong. By doing it this fast you create little room for things to go bad and I'll explain further in the Maat strategy. Back to ruby tho...

After you have pulled ruby and zoned back, preceed to fully dispel him, until nothing is left. This is improtant if he buffs again when silence drops and this type the buff is blink. When you nuke him try to keep a good distance on him if u can but it's not that important sleep nuking is easy. Aspir every single time aspir is up which is between each nuke. Also DON'T rush. Wait and make sure Sleep II is up. If you do this properly you will only convert once and never sit. It's not a hard fight at all, and maybe rdm. test will drop quickly.

Maat fight continued...
So if you haven't ever slept + nuked something before ruby is great way to learn how. It's not hard, and I thought was a really cheap way to take down an extremly strong mob. Using the same approach we're going to take out maat. First note the differences. You don't have a subjob, theirfore you can't use aspir, and you don't have sleepaga. You only have 2 chances to sleep him and that's right 2. Most people panic and die when sleep II doesn't land but remember you still have sleep 1 and it usually sticks just as well. Since maat can't be silenced you can have a lot of bad and unexpected things happen when he chainspells. Thirdly maat is a /mnk or whatever basically he will asura fists you the moment he comes close. Don't hope it doesn't happen it happened both times for me. He will and no amount of defenense will keep you alive. He also punches so fast that you have to be LUCKY in order not to get interupted.

Once your ready with all your equiptment, before entering the BCNM make sure to equipt your enfeebling torque rings everything so your ready to sleep him the moment you enter the fight. As you enter the fight hold down forward and run. Than switch yourself to auto-run so your not stopping and press your sleep II macro to target maat. Once he's selected you should stop at the edge of the circle (not the actual circle in the texture of the fight, you want to be on the perimeter of it). Than cast away, don't think just do it. And if it sticks (/cheer) that's right that means that from this point on you will not loose the fight. It means you have enough int, and you will own maat. Relax buff up with stoneskin and Blink (Phalanx Shell Protect are all a waste of mp don't bother, I would only consider aquaevil) and drop a yugado drink on yourself (it will save you the refresh mps of ur own). Now dispell him all the way, it should not be more than 3. Major ones u want to stop are his Shell IV. That spell will make you 400+ nukes into 200 nukes. Now keep your distance! This is key. Notice how far away you are. A good idea is to drop Bind right before you open fire, this way he will automatically cast on u instead of trying to run at u. If bind sticks instantly cast aero III, and sleep II. Than drop an ether wait and keep going. When your dry u can convert and continue. If bind wears right after he wakes, and he's running at u. If you kept your distance he will not get to touch u until he's slept again with ur sleep II. It's that important to be that fast about it. Now make sure to reastablish your distance and go again.

Things that can go wrong:
"Maat resists Sleep II" - omg /panic
NO! Twice did sleep II get resisted for me but if your fast you can do sleep 1 and be safe about it.

"Maat casts Blink" - lol, this happened to me I'll explain what happened further down

"Maat asuran fists twice in a row" - you should be casting sleep on him! Otherwise it means u were to slow and u died.

So that's it, it's not that hard at all. You can chainspell and make this an extremly easy fight by sleep nuking him so fast that he can't even flinch. And yea don't sit there all day long waiting and taking big breaths of faith. Just do it! If he wakes unexpectadly it's more likly that u will die than if he wakes while ur full attention is on him.

Gear:
Main - Auster's staff (this is an HQ wind staff, a less powerful staff will do just as well)
Dark staff (you don't want resists see if u can get a hold of Pluto's)
Ammo - Phantom Tathlum
Full AF
2x +3 INT rings
Elemental Torque, Enfeebling Torque, Healing Torque, Enhancing Torque
Penitent's Rope (+5 INT)
Moldevite's Earring and my second earing slot was empty
Red Cape +1

Items:

2x hi-ethers

1 pro-ether

Fight:
Once I got ported to palbarough mines I took a deep breath and relaxed. I equipted my gear to ready sleep II. And moved the cursor on the magic list to have sleep 1 ready in case of a resist.

Once I entered I held down forward than switched to auto-run while running and used my macro to target maat. When maat was selected I stoped at the line of the circle I already saw maat buffing which was a aquaviel. I didn't think much about it but dispelled him twice (should have again but I didn't) than I buffed up with stoneskin and blink while maat was still sleeping. I actually took way too long I think but than I dropped a hi-ether on myself and yag drink. I than opened with aero III and slept him and looked at the dmg after. I was happy to see that maat did not rush at me, but instead casted. He will do 1 of the 2. And if he casts blink will absorb it. He tried to blind me. Next I checked that the dmg and it was over 400 so I was clear. Next I remembered I should drop my food on me so I did an now I'm nuking harder. I wait pationatly since Maat never moved I didn't move either. Repeat it again and score another fast nuke without him even flinching. He tries to cast something again. But again only 1 spell and blink is still up with 1 more shadow. I don't recast but drop another ether on myself. Time to nuke again and this time he casts haste onhimself and chainspells. Ok this is where I should have been smarter and bound him or chainspelled myself but I didn't. My mp was now 200 some so I drop a pro-ether and recover about 300 mps and open my fifth nuke and this is the highlight of the fight. After I nuke him he wakes to have chainspell still running he cast blink and my sleep II is absorbed by the shadow... omg panic... Realizing blink has 3 shadows I dispel his blink as he's running full forth right at me. I close my eyes and sleep 1. Works out I he managed to bind me and asuran fist me with a few other attacks and I am standing next to him with him asleep. I'm like OMFG, catch my breath rebuff, convert heal up to full with my own MP and make some distance. This time I figured it's time to end it. I'm going to chainspell. He's @ 20% I'm going to finish him in 2 nukes. So I equipt everything with my macro for aero III and scroll down to my magic list so I can spam aero III which is faster this way than the macro. I chainspell ... nuke once... fights over.

The fight is not difficult if your intrested in how I lost the first fight it was due to my own stupity. I actually was 1 nuke away from a win on my first try. What happened was tho I decided I could be slick and use an int potion which makes u medicated and wouldn't let me use my ethers. ANY OF EM!!! Yea and I forgot my yugado drinks. I was seriously sitting on my butt healing and since I couldn't use ethers I ended up refreshing myself and using to much of my own MP. I also used aqueviel which didn't save me. Overall it was my first time but I was set on winning it. I took maat down to 20% and heck I could melee him probable he was less than 100 hps until dead, but I wanted 1 clear nuke at him. So I sat down and I was healing and this is after the convert. I have chainspell but that wont do me any good. I have 91 mps and he wakes. This is where I make the mistake and don't sleep him instead my insticts pull me for the macro to finish him, my aero III which needs 108 mps I believe and he asura fists me x2 in a row breaks through everything and after I realize I can't kill him I press sleep II which gets interupted and it's all over...

Next was my attempt at claiming my own RDM testimony. With a terrible drop rate like 1/11 I finally claimed my first and so maat ..

This post is kind of in past tense but preparing for Maat and in general I was lacking in Magic Atk. I've wanted my own Moldevite's earring since I was level 45 if not before that. I clearly couldn't handle the task on my own but finall @ lvl 65 I could safely camp Mysticks and even tho each time he was over camped I managed to get him. Before I came out a few times with reza but we failed to claim him each time. When I first arrived to the scene I was just there cause I didn't have a pt. All of the sudden while killing a gob he pops. With no one for miles I sleep my mob and claim him. So I take down Mystics with a link and get the above drops. He happily drops 6k for me and my final spell ^^. Being so excited I camped him for the next 10 hours. Comming out there 5 times. I couldn't claim him until my final attempt. I saw everyone from WHM, DRK, NIN, PLD, to even MNK get him and camp him with me. So after taking a break to help out with a coffer hunt I come back out and theirs a SMN clearing the area which I figured I'd take to my advantage and use my dia macro on an open field. It works I claim Mystics and he drops the earring and I'm the happiest person in the world, he also drops Thundega III which I send to my friend Akujin. And thats the my story of NM camping, I haven't camped my own serious NM since Lizzy and Emperor so it's been quite some time. I'm glad it worked out and technically I have a 1/2 drop rate ^^

Yo ... yea damn Kman robbed me again. I swear his nerve. I slave all season for him he makes all that gil and gives me nothing I'm still broke how in the world is a poor mithra like me to survive. I swear ...

I DID IT ^^

After a good three weeks (Earth Time) I managed to yield 3 Earth Ores and 6 Stacks of Kitrons and countless Lightning Clusters. Kman was extremly happy, after the full yield he said he made over 1.7mil in gil which all of us gardeners sent to Kman's banker Starwind. I think I'll leave it at that ... but I'm just happy that this yield came out, all my hard work paid off ^^

Sometimes I get lonely just hanging out here with the plants. Last night I suggested to my master to level my skills as a monk, he said he doesn't have the time right now but he'll give it some thought. He even suggested sending me off into the cloth and leather guild. This is my chance to get my name out there ^^

This is my first big project that he set me out to do, during the time I kept my AH duties to a min and set out to grow 10 Earth Ore if I please my master than maybe he'll consider sending me off into the wild and train me as a monk. /sigh
